Another disappointing performance against a Cwmamman United side that had a game plan and stuck to it and certainly worked for the three points. We failed to cope with the pace and running of the Cwmamman attack all night.
It was a much changed team with Liam McCreesh, suspended, Sacha Walters, injured. Cai Owens partnered Jack Todd at centre back with Alex Gammond joining Ben Thomas in midfield. Chris Hartland dropped to the bench.
We could have been two down before we took the lead on 16 minutes but both efforts were ruled out for offside. Noah Daley then latched on to a through ball and as Chris Curtis came out he dinked it over him for his fifth goal of the season. On 21 minutes Cwmamman were awarded a penalty but Rory McCreesh guessed correctly and turned the ball away for a corner. Cwmamman deservedly equalised on 31 minutes, they played the ball wide right and it was cut back for Colin Harris to score from the edge of the area. Spurred on by this Cwmamman attacked but Cai Owens headed away a corner which was picked up by Cwmamman but the shot was held by McCreesh.
We made a bizarre substitution at half time, Jack Hurley’s girlfriend, presumably not a football fan had booked him a nigh out so at half time Chris Hartland replaced him. Chris was involved in the second Lido goal, firstly his shot was saved by Chris Curtis but the ball rebounded to Hartland, his cross was put into his own net by centre back Nathaniel McNeil. Almost immediately Cwmamman could have equalised but Rory McCreesh came off his line to deny Ashley Curtis and Cai Owens got back to clear the ball near the goal line. However, that reprieve was short lived as another ball over the top again saw McCreesh out of his goal but Curtis beat him to the ball and lobbed it into the empty net to make it 2-2 on 59 minutes. 5 minutes later Cwmamman took the lead , the ball was played into the area and was collected by Ryan Thomas who fired low to McCreesh’s right side and into the net. On 70 minutes a Cwmamman header from a corner hit the crossbar as we struggled to stay in the game. Jack Todd then cleared a shot off the line and Cwmamman continued to push forward Ryan Thomas scored his second on 87 minutes to secure the three points for Cwmamman who thoroughly deserved the three points
Finally well done referee Jordan Harman one of the best displays we’ve had from a referee all season.
