Home Draw

We were drawn at home last night to Morriston Town in round 3 of the Welsh Cup. Date to be confirmed.

Welsh Cup Progress

We overcame a determined Cardiff Corries side in the Welsh Cup but only after winning a penalty shootout. We found ourselves a goal down in 11 minutes but two Travis James goals in the space of a minute put us ahead. Not to be denied Corries equalised on 40 minutes to send the teams in all square at the interval. Connah Troy restored our lead on 55 minutes only for Corries top equalise on 78. With no further goals the match went into penalties with Jonathan Hood, Corey Woods, Liam Thomas and Travis James netting from the spot to secure a 4-2 win on penalties.

New Manager

Garry Taylor has left his position as a coach at Llanelli Town to take up the manager’s job at the club. He is also a former manager of Pontardawe Town. Details of his assistant are awaited.

Phillips at the Double

16 year old Zak Phillips came off the bench for his first team debut and netted twice to secure a 4-1 win over neighbours Goytre United. Zak replaced Liam Thomas on 55 minutes and took only 10 minutes to net his first goal. His second came on 76 minutes to ensure the 3 points. Earlier Chris Jones had come off the bench to replace Jonathan Hood on the half hour and netted directly from a corner on the stroke of half time. He doubled the lead with a penalty on 49 minutes to secure our best ever home win against Goytre United. The only down side were injuries to Jonathan Hood and Ioan Evans who join Liam Griffiths on the sidelines.

First Point

We picked up our first point of the season with a 1-1 draw with Newport City. Liam Griffiths headed us in front on 8 minutes but the visitors drew level on 15 when Luke Copper netted from a tight angle. Both sides had chances to lead but cancelled themselves out.
