Lido come from behind to win

Lido overcame difficult opponents in newly promoted Caerau Ely to take all 3 points. surprisingly there were changes from the side that did so well at Penybont last Friday and at times they struggled against lively opponents. The game exploded in life after a quiet start with young Ieuan Owen being sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession around the half hour. Caerau Ely used their extra man well and took the lead from the penalty spot on 41 minutes. Lido were forced into a half time substitution as Ben Keen suffered a knee injury just before the interval and was replaced by Josh Webber. Attacking the clubhouse end in the second half Lido created several chances with Norton Ferreira twice being forced wide. Caerau Ely then had a player sent off for a second yellow card on the hour and with the sides now equal on the field Lido looked more likely to score. It was Ferreira who equalised on 66 minutes when he picked up a loose ball and fired a rocket of a shot from a wide angle into the net. Lido continued to push forward and 77 minutes took the lead with a twice taken penalty by Liam McCreesh. Caerau Ely now pushed forward looking for the equaliser and put pressure on the defence but despite some poor clearances they defended well. Caerau Ely were keeping the ball well with Lido unable to get into the Caerau Ely half until Josh Webber was set free and he sealed the win in the eighth minute of added time.
